Yoce, in plain English
Hey 👋 — this page is for kids who use Yoce. It explains what we keep about you, who can see it, and what to do if anything ever feels wrong.
⭐ What is Yoce?
Yoce is an app for your family. You earn stars for things you do at home, you can chat with your family, and a grown-up can let you chat with friends from other families.
📝 What we know about you
Only a few things, all set by your grown-up:
- The nickname they pick for you
- The avatar you pick (a little drawing — never a real photo)
- How many stars you have
- The messages you send to your family or to approved friends
- Your Wall — the drawings you make, your journal, and your answers to the daily question. There's My Wall (just for you) and a shared Family Wall that everyone in your family can see and add to. Only your family can see any of it — never friends or anyone outside your family.
We never know your real address, your school, or your phone number, and we never look at where you are. You can't take or upload photos yourself in Yoce — but your grown-up can add a family photo to your Family Wall, and only your family can ever see it.
👀 Who can see it?
- Your family — the grown-ups and brothers/sisters in your Yoce family
- Friends a grown-up has approved — only after BOTH families say yes
- The Yoce engineers, but only if there's a problem to fix and your grown-up has asked us for help
We never show your stuff to companies who want to sell things to you. We never show ads. We never share you on the internet.
🤝 How making friends works
You can ask to be friends with another kid on Yoce by typing their username. That's it — no email, no phone number, no family code. Here's what happens next:
- Your grown-up sees your request first and says yes (or no).
- Then your friend's grown-up sees it on their phone.
- Both grown-ups have to say yes before you can chat.
Two grown-ups always have to agree. If even one says no, no chat happens.
Getting the username slightly wrong is fine — we just won't find anyone. Nothing is sent and nobody gets a mystery message.
After you tap Send, your friend pops up at the top of your friends list under Waiting for parents so you can see your request is on the way. Change your mind? Tap Cancel next to their name and the request disappears.
🛡 Things grown-ups can do
- See everything you've ever sent in Yoce
- See and remove anything on your Wall
- Approve which friends you can chat with
- Turn whole parts of Yoce on or off (chat, calendar, stars, the Wall)
- Change how many messages you can send each day
- Delete your account whenever they want
Your grown-up is in charge of your Yoce account. They give Yoce permission for you to be on it.
😟 If something feels wrong
If anyone says something weird in chat, or you see something that doesn't feel right:
- Tell your grown-up first
- Your grown-up can email Yoce at support@yoce.com any time
- Yoce will help
🚪 If you want to stop using Yoce
That's totally fine. Tell your grown-up — they can delete your account, and everything we know about you goes away within a month.
