We make this easy. No phone call. No retention dance.
In the app or on the web
Sign in, open Settings → Privacy → Delete my family. Confirm and we'll schedule the deletion for 30 days from now. You can cancel any time inside that window.

If you can't sign in, email us with your account email and the family name. We'll verify ownership and schedule the deletion manually within one working day.

On the 30th day after you confirm, we cascade-delete everything tied to your family:
- Your parent account (auth record, profile, email, name, avatar).
- All children inside your family (display names, avatars, usernames, PINs, star totals, trophies, badges).
- Every chat message and voice clip in any thread your family is on. (Friend DMs across families: the message is removed from your family's view; the other family still sees their copy until they delete it independently — same as deleting a WhatsApp account.)
- Every wallet, pot, transaction, and request.
- Every calendar event, reminder, and ICS-export token.
- Every friendship and family-member relationship originating from your family.
- Every push-notification subscription tied to your family.
- Stripe customer data is wiped on our side and we cancel any active subscription. Stripe's own retention follows their policy.
What we retain (and why)
Two narrow categories survive deletion, with personal identifiers stripped, for legal and regulatory reasons:
- Audit log entries tied to actions that have legal weight (consent given, deletion executed, payment processed). The actor_id is set to NULL so the record exists but doesn't identify you. Retained for 7 years per industry norm, then anonymised further.
- Consent records proving you opted into our Terms + COPPA parental consent at signup. Same anonymisation. We need this if a regulator ever asks us to demonstrate compliance.
We retain no behavioural data, no analytics profile, no chat content, no calendar events, no financial activity. The audit log is a regulatory paper trail, not a record of who you are.
The 30-day grace period
From the moment you confirm deletion, you have 30 days to change your mind. During that window:
- Your account is marked "pending deletion" but functional.
- No further charges are made — any active subscription is paused.
- You can cancel the deletion from Settings → Privacy → Cancel deletion at any time.
- Email us at support@yoce.com if you'd like to cancel and can't sign in.
On day 30, a daily cron sweeps pending deletions and runs the cascade. Once executed, recovery is impossible.
Before you go — quick alternatives
If you're leaving because something isn't working, we'd love a chance to fix it. Some people who reach this page didn't actually want deletion:
- Pause notifications — Settings → Notifications, off across the board.
- Cancel subscription only — Settings → Billing. Your family stays, you just stop paying. The free tier always works.
- Take a break — sign out and don't open the app for a while. Yoce won't send you anything you didn't opt into.
- Export your data — Settings → Privacy → Export. JSON dump of everything we hold. Useful before you delete, or for any other reason.
